Jeff’s fundraiser for Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children

We are delighted to share that SNAC supporter Jeff Squires has completed the Kiltwalk 2026, walking an incredible 22 miles and raising just over £600 in support of SNAC.

We are extremely grateful for this fantastic effort and for the continued support shown to our charity and the families we work alongside.

💚 Supporting children like Leon

This fundraising was undertaken in support of children living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), including Leon, who was diagnosed with polyarticular JIA at just 18 months old.

Leon experienced significant symptoms early on, including difficulty walking and reduced movement in multiple joints. He is now also managing uveitis in his eyes and receives weekly immunosuppressant and biologic treatments to help manage his condition.

JIA is a long-term, fluctuating condition, and no two days are ever the same for families navigating it.

💛 A message from the family

The family shared how important SNAC has been to them during their journey:

“SNAC has been such a lifeline for us as parents of a child with arthritis. The events they organise — from soft play to days out at places like safari parks — allow families to connect, share experiences, and support each other. It has really helped us feel less alone.”

We are incredibly grateful to hear how these connections and support networks have made a difference.

🙏 Thank you

As a volunteer-led charity, SNAC relies on fundraising like this to continue providing events, information, and community support for families across Scotland.

We would like to say a sincere thank you to Jeff Aquires for completing the Kiltwalk and raising such a fantastic amount. Your support truly helps make a difference to children like Leon and their families.
