What makes the weekend special?

Each couple of years we bring together a number of families recently affected by JIA and some of the country’s leading paediatric rheumatology experts for a Family Weekend.

Families meet others who truly understand life with JIA, helping to reduce isolation and build lasting friendships.

Parents hear directly from paediatric rheumatology professionals in a relaxed and accessible setting.

Children with JIA – and their siblings – enjoy activities designed just for them, helping them feel included and understood.

What happens during the weekend?

The weekend includes a mix of educational sessions for parents and carers, alongside social and fun activities for children and young people with JIA and their siblings.

With hospital rheumatology teams involved, the weekend is both informative and reassuring. Above all, it offers families the chance to relax, connect, and feel supported.

Who is the Family Weekend for?

  • Families who have been recently affected by JIA
  • Children and young people living with JIA
  • Parents and carers looking for information, reassurance, and support
  • Siblings who may also be affected by a JIA diagnosis

When and where does it take place?

The Family Weekend usually takes place once a year or once every 2 years at an accessible family-friendly venue in Scotland.

With hospital rheumatology teams involved, the weekend is both informative and reassuring. Above all, it offers families the chance to relax, connect, and feel supported.
